CapEd provides many ways for you to avoid overdrafting into Courtesy Pay. They are listed below.
- Link your savings account to your checking account. This was done automatically for you when you established your checking account. You are allowed 6 pre-authorized or unsigned transfers per month from a savings account according to Federal Reserve regulations.
- Apply for a line of credit. On approved credit, this loan can be an easy and effective way to avoid overdraft fees on your checking account.
- Sign up for low balance alerts. If you use CapEd eBranch, signing up for e-alerts will provide email notifications to you. For example, you can customize these alerts to notify you of certain withdrawal amounts or if your balance drops below a threshold you set.
- Reconcile your checking account register to your credit union balance regularly. This is the most effective way to avoid overdraft charges. Every time you use your debit card, write the purchase amount in your register, and then balance the register to your CapEd account on a regular basis.
